Watanabe Oolong

$15.00

With about 99% of Japan’s tea production devoted to green tea, this oolong from Deai Farm is a rare and exceptional find. Led by forward-thinking tea farmer Jun Watanabe, this oolong is unique among Japanese teas because it’s pan-fired rather than steamed. A fourth-generation tea farmer, Watanabe previously worked in computer systems before returning to the family business, blending traditional techniques with innovative practices—like using solar panels to provide both energy for the farm and shade for the tea plants.

Watanabe Oolong is a spring harvest blend made from six different Japanese tea cultivars, grown in the semi-mountainous Shizuoka region. Its flavor evokes the floral, high-mountain oolongs of Taiwan, with light oxidation, a delicate body, and a hint of fruity aroma.

Hot infusion: Use 3g (1 Tbsp) with 6 oz (175ml) at 185°F for 2 min.

Cold infusion: Use 3g (1 Tbsp) with 6 oz (175ml) with ice water for 10-15 min.

Reinfuse several times.

Contains 1 oz. (30g) Approximately 30 cups if reinfused as recommended.
